Boxers In Need was founded in 2024 by Gary Cornforth a retired businessman and long time supporter of grass routes boxing, and, Peter Fury, co-founder and world-renowned professional boxing coach. Today, the charity is proudly supported by ambassadors from across the boxing community.

We exist to provide vital support in three key areas:
-
Professional boxers whose careers have been cut short through injury — helping them adjust to life outside the ring with access to wellness, mentoring, rehabilitation, and financial support.

-
Retired boxers — many of whom struggle after stepping away from the sport they dedicated their lives to.

-
Amateur boxing gyms — often run on a shoestring by volunteers, yet playing a crucial role in giving young people discipline, structure, and confidence while keeping them off the streets.
Our ultimate vision is to build a dedicated Rehabilitation Centre for boxers whose careers end prematurely due to injury. This will be a place of recovery, guidance, and opportunity — a safe haven where fighters can rebuild their lives and futures.

Through this work, we aim to create a lasting legacy for boxing: ensuring that those who gave everything to the sport are supported, remembered, and celebrated, while the next generation is given the chance to thrive.

We are currently in the process of applying for Charitable Trust status, which means we are unable to accept donations or memberships at this time — but we’ll be back very soon.
